Setting up Demfilz Wholesale Tier Pricing

This plugin gives each customer their own prices: create tiers that adjust by percentage, fixed amount or exact per-product prices, assign customers directly or by role, and fine-tune any product. Here's how to install it and set up your first wholesale tier.

What this plugin does

Demfilz Wholesale Tier Pricing lets one WooCommerce store serve retail, trade, wholesale and VIP customers at different prices. You create named tiers, assign a tier per customer, and while that customer is logged in every price they see - shop, product pages, variable-product ranges, cart and checkout - uses their tier. Guests and customers without a tier always see standard prices, orders record which tier priced them, and nothing ever leaves your site.

You'll need: WordPress 6.2+, WooCommerce 6.0+ and PHP 7.4+. The plugin is free and makes no external calls.

1. Install and activate

In your WordPress admin go to Plugins → Add New, search for "Demfilz Wholesale Tier Pricing", install and activate (WooCommerce must be active) - it is published on the official WordPress.org plugin directory. A Tier Pricing menu appears in the sidebar, and the plugin row gets quick links to Tiers and Settings.

2. Create your tiers

Under Tier Pricing → Tiers, add a tier with a name and one of three adjustment kinds:

  • Percentage - a signed percent. -20 means 20% off; 5 means a 5% surcharge (you'll get a warning notice when saving a surcharge, so a missing minus sign can't slip through silently).
  • Fixed amount - a signed value added to every price. -5 takes 5.00 off.
  • Specific prices per product - the tier applies no blanket change. Instead, you enter each product's exact tier price on the product's edit screen (step 4). Products without a price stay at standard.

Tiers can be deactivated without deleting them - an inactive tier is kept but never applied. Deleting a tier unassigns its customers, who revert to standard prices or their role default.

3. Assign customers

Four ways, use whichever fits:

  • Tier Pricing → Customers - search customers by name or email, pick a tier, Assign. The table below lists every direct assignment with change and remove controls.
  • Users list - a Pricing tier column (role-mapped users show as "(via role)"), a filter-by-tier dropdown, and bulk actions to assign or remove a tier for many users at once.
  • Any user profile - a Pricing tier dropdown under Tier pricing.
  • Role map - in Tier Pricing → Settings, give a whole role a default tier (for example a wholesale customer role). A direct per-customer assignment always beats the role default.

4. Per-product prices and overrides

Every product's edit screen gets a Tier pricing panel listing your tiers:

  • For a specific-prices tier, type this product's exact tier price - or leave it empty for the standard price.
  • For percentage and fixed tiers, choose per tier: Inherit the tier rule, Exclude this product from the tier, or a Custom rule with its own kind and amount just for this product.

Variations follow their parent product's panel, and external/affiliate products are never adjusted (their checkout happens off-site at the real price).

5. Display and behaviour settings

Under Tier Pricing → Settings:

  • Show the standard price struck through next to the tier price (simple products and selected variations).
  • Badge - show a label like Wholesale price next to tier prices; {tier} is replaced with the tier name.
  • Products already on sale - apply the tier to the sale price (default) or skip tier pricing while a product is on sale.
  • Never charge more than the standard price - blocks surcharge results entirely.
  • Rounding - none, whole amounts, or end adjusted prices in .95 or .99.

6. Orders and reporting

Each order placed by a tiered customer records the tier name - on the classic checkout and the modern block checkout - and the admin order screen shows a Pricing tier line under the order details. Orders an admin creates or edits in wp-admin deliberately use standard prices, so your own account's tier can never leak into someone else's order.

Good to know

  • WooCommerce's price sorting and the price filter widget use a lookup table of standard prices - tiered customers sort and filter by standard prices, but always see and pay their tier prices.
  • Prices can never drop below zero, and customers can never influence which tier they get - resolution happens server-side from admin-controlled data only.
  • Uninstalling removes tiers, settings, assignments and product overrides; historical order tier names are kept as a record.
